"A double minded man is unstable in all his ways." James 1:8 The philosophy of the times divide the people into two opposing factions as conservative or liberal (progressive). A Latter-day Saint is a disciple of Christ. A disciple of Christ is called to reject this paradigm.
Discipleship aligns the soul on the path that leads to eternal life. Disciples of Christ are to be one in their endeavor to be obedient to their Creators commands. For "the light of the body is the eye: if therefore thine eye be single [not double], thy whole body shall be full of light" (Matt. 6:22). Because as Christ taught, "no man can serve two masters." For the way is "strait" and "narrow" not left or right. We are to be "one" in our faith not divided. In addition Christ has taught, a "house divided against itself shall not stand" (Matt. 12:25).
The philosophies of men teach of a right and left paradigm. There are men who want to divide the body of the saints of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints into two opposing factions of conservative and liberal. In doing so they hope to place the Church within their hands of control.
Do we possess the double-mind that the apostle James warned us about? If we do, then we are unstable in our commitment in fulfilling the three-fold mission of Christ's church.
