Some early philosophers have assumed that the earth is ever at rest and a dead weight planted in the center of the universe at equal distance everywhere in the heavens or space.
The reality is that the earth takes its fixed direction by its terminal points. If the earth were to vary from its natural direction and from her position in the universe or if the poles of the earth were pulled to point directly at the sun the earth would self correct back to its magnetic position of north and south.
The causes of the precession of the equinoxes and of the progression of the fixed stars, as well as of change in the declinations of the sun and the tropics, are traceable to magnetic forces.
The earth and its magnetic intricacies are a witness of its creation. "And behold, all things have their likeness, and all things are created and made to bear record of me, both things which are temporal, and things which are spiritual; things which are in the heavens above, and things which are on the earth, and things which are under the earth, both above and beneath: all things bear record of me."
